On April 13th I was invited by Opportunity International to join a call with Bonnie St. John who was discussing the April 20th release of her new book, How Great Women Lead: A Mother-Daughter Adventure into the Lives of Women Shaping the World.

St. John co-authored the book with her teenage daughter, Darcy  Deane, which chronicles a two-year mother-daughter adventure into the lives, and life lessons, of 24 extraordinary women, covering four continents and spanning three generations. Bonnie, an Olympian and former White House official, and Darcy take you on a journey of the world’s most powerful women. From Hillary Rodham Clinton, to Teach for America founder Wendy Kopp, to movie star Geena Davis, each of the women featured shares the exciting story of her rise to the top and the unique opportunities it took to get there.

If you’re like me you learn by example and reading these stories is sure to inspire you to create your very own adventure that shapes the lives of those around you.

I love this photo!  It was recently sent to me from a seasoned video/film director who was shooting the ltd team for a Microsoft segment.  After a conversation about his various ventures, he picked up a highly recommended how-to book to start creating his plan of action.  Did I mention he was brilliant?!? Did I mention self-promotion is sometimes a good thing?!?

As an entrepreneur, there are few things that make motivate me more than another entrepreneur making a difference and changing lives! Take more than a peek at the entrepreneurs of 31 Bits. These ladies are a particular stand out for me because they didn’t forgo style when incorporating the indigenous handiwork of the talented Ugandan women they are partnered with.  The balance of incorporating a local craft with the attention to what the market wants is a perfect recipe for sustainability. Good work indeed!

It’s so exciting to see people we know and love getting rewarded for their brilliant work. One of those special people is Tamara Honey.  You may remember Tamara as one of the fabulous speakers at ltdLIVE, or perhaps you recall the remarkable stage she generously designed for us. How ever you remember the stylish entrepreneur, we wanted to share her newest title. Mrs. Honey was just named one of the 10 New Trad Designers by Traditional Home. Congrats to Tamara for making the list and being acknowledged for her fresh and energetic, modern-vintage aesthetic–we love it!

Most of the time you’ll find me at my home office in some sort of cotton ensemble. Since 75% of my meetings are virtual, the dress code around here is pretty loose, but the above items warrant a real life, get out the door, face to face meeting.  I love creating looks for those rare moments and Polyvore makes it easy and fun. Take a peek.  It’s like having your very own digital stylist! This is my dream outfit for a meeting with a creative team in Tribeca (or so I hope).

My floor and desk are currently littered with tax instructions, pre-school, 1st grade and 3rd grade birthday invites, a school auction announcement, household receipts, all my “i” products and their various cords, and a list of things to do for both work and home. There seems to be no division of my professional and personal life. It’s days like today that I long for a place to call my office–one that does not share my home address.  To inspire me to take the loft space plunge, I will look to Roger for inspiration!

10-4…Roger that!
